You have completed the training series on the fundamentals of GEDI for applying GEDI to monitoring and map vegetated ecosystems. This four-module GEDI training series provides participants with the knowledge, tools, and context needed to meaningfully engage with the GEDI mission and its groundbreaking lidar data products. By building a strong foundation in the principles of lidar remote sensing, data acquisition, and analysis workflows, participants are empowered to explore GEDI’s 3-dimensional measurements of vegetation structure and biomass within their own ecosystems of interest. Through the integration of case studies, open-source tools, and applied examples from global research efforts, this training bridges the gap between data theory and real-world application. Ultimately, the goal is to foster a growing community of practitioners and researchers who can leverage GEDI insights to advance sustainable land management, improve ecosystem monitoring, and contribute to our collective understanding of Earth’s dynamic forests in a changing climate. We need more users like yourself to continue to build upon and benefit from innovation and improving data-driven ecosystem management!

Training Updates and Issues
This training site is hosted by University of Alabama in Huntsville, Atmospheric and Earth Science Department by the Lab for Applied Sciences in collaboration with NASA EarthRISE based at Marshall Space Flight Center and NASA ARSET. Best contact is with the Lab for Applied Sciences via email or through the Github repository which hosts an open discussion forum for issues and questions.
The GEDI Mission Webpage
As GEDI products are improved, new datasets are released, and novel research is published, the mission webpage shares media updates, user guide version tracking, and a live collection of GEDI related publications. NASA data centers manage each product source page through EarthData catalog. NASA discussion forums hold discussions and can help connect you to relevant experts.
