Calibrating Field, Airborne and Spaceborne Lidar

Source: GEDI L2A and Relative Height Metrics. Izaya Numata.

Exercise Objectives

  1. Learn how to develop local AGB models with field AGB and simulated GEDI waveforms.
  2. Develop GEDI footprint level AGB predicted by local AGB model.
  3. Map AGB and AGB change over time.

Exercise Overview

There are three exercises for this training:

  1. GEDI waveform simulation from airborne lidar
  2. Local AGB model with field AGB plot data and simulated waveforms for relative heights.
  3. AGB mapping by fusing GEDI AGB data with Landsat CCDC.

For Exercises 1 and 2, RStudio (or R) is used and the study site is Acre, Brazil. All necessary materials including input data such as lidar, field plot AGB, GEDI L2A and scripts can be found in the respective folders of these exercises in the link. For Exercise 3, Google Earth Engine (GEE) JavaScript Code Editor is used, and the code is provided in the link.
