Module 3 Overview
Biomass Change with OBIWAN
The GEDI mission provides predictions of biomass at the 25m footprint level and for 1 km grid cells. This training provides theoretical background for those products and how GEDI’s statistics, measurements, and models are used in OBIWAN for customized carbon reporting. The OBIWAN API is also demonstrated through a hands-on activity to demonstrate how easy it is to incorporate OBIWAN estimation in your organization’s carbon reporting/documentation system.
The Target Audience
Participants in carbon markets, inventory specialists, forest managers, and application developers.
Learning Objectives
- Understand and use GEDI standard biomass products at the footprint and 1km scale.
- Access the open-source OBIWAN API to generate and serve estimates of biomass change for areas of interest.
- Understand how OBIWAN can be used to create baseline scenarios needed to identify additionality of forest carbon projects.
